Select the section break by dragging from its left edge all the way to the right edge. To delete a section break, scroll until you see it. Select and delete the final section break. and then click Show/Hide to show section breaks and paragraph marks.Word applies to the last section the column formatting that you accepted in step 14 for the next-to-las last section.
If there are no differences in column formatting between the two final sections, you can skip to step 17.

THEN-opened up the copy of the book (final edited copy due today, btw), ran Kutools "remove section breaks"-and VOILA! NO MORE SECTION BREAKS! YAY! Happy, happy me. After installation, I tried Kutools on a small 5 page doc -inserting section breaks and page breaks, then removed them easily. So next, I made a new copy of the doc and downloaded Kutools for Word. Not cool to have to do all that work over again-about 10-12 hours of re-formatting.
I used the VBA Macro as well (in a copy of the document, as a trial.) The only way that worked was after clearing ALL the formatting in the entire book. Most breaks I was able to delete using your directions for Find/Replace, but STILL- seven breaks remained that were hidden. Thank you, thank you! I'm editing a book for an author (300 pages) and couldn't get rid of the 27 section breaks, even after following advice from online MS experts.
